Social Services
SOS Social Services provides food, emergency financial assistance, case management, special holiday programs, legal aid, education and training for low-income Orange County residents. Additional resources and referrals for services throughout the county are provided when needed.
Food
Food items are purchased or donated by approximately 25 area restaurants, markets and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Food is picked up by volunteer drivers 6 mornings a week. The food is repackaged and distributed by volunteers to those in need. SOS distributes an average of 275 bags of groceries a day. Bags are filled with fresh produce, meats, dairy products, breads and assorted canned goods. The SOS Food Pantry is open Monday – Friday from 8:00am to 2:45pm. A photo ID and proof of Orange County residency is required.
Clothing
We are currently only accepting blankets & jackets. Items can be dropped off at Share Our Selves Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:00pm.
Financial Assistance
Direct financial assistance is provided upon request for basic necessities including rent, utilities and transportation. Volunteers interview those seeking financial assistance and offer referrals to public and private agencies that may provide help. Emergency Financial Aid is available Monday – Friday. You are required to be here by 8am with photo ID, proof of address confirming Orange County residency, and documents to support your request. Limited parking is available on site so please plan additional time for parking.
Financially Fit Classes
Wednesdays – 9:00am–10:00am at SOS
The Financially Fit Classes, sponsored by Wells Fargo, are free and open to the community. Attendees will learn how to manage money in difficult times, and how to prepare a savings plan.
Legal Aid
The Public Law Center offer free services at SOS every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 9am – 12pm. Assistance is offered on a first come, first served basis. You may contact Public Law Center at 714-541-1010 for more information on services offered.
Tax Assistance
Every February and March, SOS hosts free Community Tax Days and offers assistance with i-CAN! E-file. Walk-ins are welcome.
