You are invited to join SOS as we celebrate the 26th Annual SOS Celebrity Chef Dinner! The event highlights a group of outstanding local chefs who are committed to providing food and services for the vulnerable populations in Orange County. The dinner features five exquisite courses paired with specialty wines, a silent auction, and a live auction in which the chefs offer exciting one-of-a kind dining packages.

Proceeds from the event benefit the SOS Food Pantry and Comprehensive Service Center, which provides food and needed services such as rental and utilities assistance, transportation, and seasonal programs for low income individuals and families.

Our online auction will run from October 1-24th, at We are currently looking for donations of merchandise, in-kind donations or gift certificates to include in the online auction and/or at the dinner. Our online auction will reach a local and national audience of bidders through the SOS and Bidding for Good communities.

Sleep Out on Superior Tickets
Did you know that on any given night in Orange County, almost 4,300 people are homeless? As we tuck ourselves into our warm beds, with sturdy roofs over our heads, there are individuals and families with small children hunkering down for the night in parks, on the beach, in cars, and under freeway on-ramps and bridges. These less fortunate neighbors of ours did not choose their current circumstance. They are often victims of job loss or underemployment, domestic violence, veterans with few resources at their disposal, or suffering from severe mental illness.

This year SOS is hosting a Sleep Out on Superior “Family Night” on November 17th. This event lasts from 5-7pm and aims to educate elementary school age children on the issues of hunger and homelessness in a way that is relatable and easy to understand. Children will have the opportunity to pack hygiene kits, decorate place-mats and draw pictures on cards to be passed out to the homeless children and families in Orange County. Dinner will be provided. Bring your whole family to participate in this special night!

Our overnight Sleep Out on Superior event will be held on November 18-19. We are coordinating our efforts with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, November 12-20, 2016. The weeklong efforts are held annually the week before Thanksgiving to encourage us to remember and assist those who have less to be thankful for. By committing to sleeping outside for one night, you will be joining a local and national movement to end hunger and homelessness.

Family Night
Families will be working together to help with projects that assist our clients. Projects include:
• Putting together hygiene kits
• Decorating an “empty plate” placemat
• Making cards for homeless clients

Sleep Out
Throughout the evening, participants will be working together to help with projects that assist our clients. Projects include:
• Pre-Packing homeless food bags
• Assembling food bags for our Thanksgiving Food Distribution program
• Putting together hygiene kits
• Sorting cans

Hygiene Item Requests:
Miniature bottles are preferred as they are best for individual use

This Thanksgiving season SOS will be providing a holiday food bags for Orange County families and individuals. The bags will be filled with supplies that can be used to prepare a holiday dinner.
